Donosti is right next to the sea (wow, I am a genius), and the sea and the city have been entangled even before the construction of the city itself. It has turned us into what we are, it has given us our character,… and most importantly, it has fed us. But have you ever looked at the sea as something more than just a place to find something for the menu? If you have, then the visit to the city´s Aquarium is mandatory.
Location of the San Sebastián Aquarium
Located at San Sebastian´s harbour, watching the sea, this beautiful building shows us a lot of the sea species in our surroundings, both alive and dead, as you can find a wide range of things, going from a huge whale skeleton to the many living species, including two huge bull sharks (Txuri and Conchita) that swim around the crystal passage built through the biggest tank. Plus, this building also holds a little museum dedicated to our history with the sea, so you can comprehend a little bit more the things that have connected us throughout the centuries and still nowadays.
Duration of the visit to the Donostia Aquarium
The average duration of a visit to the Aquarium is about 2 hours, although everything will depend on the interest and curiosity of the visitor. The tour includes a fascinating underwater tunnel, tanks of different sizes with species from around the world, and interactive exhibits.
Donostia Aquarium hours
The Aquarium opens its doors every day of the year. From Monday to Sunday, the hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. However, it is important to keep in mind that during holidays and vacation periods, schedules may vary.
