Swimming in La Concha on Winter

There are few things more typical than bathing in La Concha bay, no matter the time of year. It is one of the most usual things to see in the national news people bathing in the beach… on January the 1st. And although it is important to remember that we are in the Cantabric sea, this bay is protected by two mountains and an island, protected from the wind and sea currents. Because of this, the water is never cold… only “a little bit cold”.

If you are down with visiting La Concha, keep in mind that parking in san Sebastian is a super hard thing to achieve, so be patient. It is better to leave the car wherever you have it already and going to the beach on foot, by bike or with the public transport. You also have to remember that the tides shift every 6 hours and a half, so the bay transforms radically, going from a super wide beach… to just a few meters of sand.

So there you have it. Keep your towel at hand and join the locals that bath at “the Cantabric Pearl” everyday.
